BrightSprig sells products for children, so safety, age appropriateness, materials, and clear product information matter.
We do not manufacture most of the products in our store. Instead, we work with brands and suppliers that provide product-specific information about materials, age recommendations, warnings, testing, certifications, care, assembly, and intended use.
Our goal is to review that information carefully and present it in a way that helps parents make informed decisions.
Safety Is Product-Specific
Not every children's product needs the same type of safety review.
A board book, art kit, wooden puzzle, climbing structure, silicone toy, and electronics-based STEM kit all have different considerations.
When evaluating products, we look at the information that is relevant to how that product is actually used.
Depending on the item, that may include:
- Recommended age
- Small-parts warnings
- Weight limits
- Assembly requirements
- Supervision guidance
- Materials
- Paints and finishes

- Batteries or electronic components

We do not treat every product as though it carries the same risks or requires the same documentation.
Manufacturer Guidance Comes First
BrightSprig may organize products by age or developmental benefit to make shopping easier, but manufacturer instructions should always take priority.
Parents and caregivers should review:

- Usage instructions

- Required supervision
These recommendations are based on the specific product and should be followed even if BrightSprig also includes broader age guidance on the product page.
Materials Matter
We prefer products where the manufacturer or supplier provides useful information about materials and construction.
Depending on the product, you may see information about materials such as:

When this information is available, we try to include it in the Materials & Safety section of the product page.
We do not assume that a material is safer simply because it is described as natural, wooden, handmade, organic, or Montessori-inspired.
The actual product information matters more than the marketing language.
Testing & Certifications
Some children's products may be subject to specific testing, certification, or regulatory requirements.
When a manufacturer or supplier provides relevant documentation, BrightSprig may reference information such as:

- CPSIA-related information
- CPSC requirements
- CE conformity information
- Other applicable product-specific testing or documentation
We try to describe this information accurately.
For example, a Children's Product Certificate (CPC) is a manufacturer or importer certification based on applicable children's product safety testing. It is not itself a testing standard.
BrightSprig does not independently certify products unless explicitly stated.
We Avoid Blanket Safety Claims
Terms like:
- "100% safe"
- "completely non-toxic"
- "chemical-free"
- "certified safe"
- "Montessori certified"
can be misleading when they are not supported by specific evidence.
BrightSprig avoids making broad claims that go beyond the information supplied by the manufacturer or applicable documentation.
If a manufacturer specifically states that a product uses a particular material, finish, testing standard, or certification, we may include that information.
If the information is unclear, we would rather leave the claim out than overstate it.
Small Parts
Some products contain small components that may not be appropriate for younger children.
This can include:

Active adult supervision is important.

Craft and STEM activities can involve components that require more supervision than traditional toys.

Natural & Handmade Products
Some BrightSprig products use materials such as wood, wool, cotton, or rattan and may be handmade or partially handmade.
Natural materials can have slight differences in:
- Grain
- Color
- Texture
- Shape
- Finish
These differences do not necessarily indicate a defect.
Parents should still inspect natural and handmade products regularly for wear, splinters, loose components, damaged fibers, or other changes that could affect safe use.
Product Recalls & Safety Notices
Manufacturers and regulatory agencies may occasionally issue recalls or safety notices.
BrightSprig may remove or restrict a product if we become aware of a relevant recall, material safety concern, supplier issue, or other information that changes our assessment of the product.
Customers should stop using any product subject to an applicable recall and follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer or regulatory authority.
Inspect Products Before Use
We recommend inspecting children's products when they arrive and periodically during use.
Check for things such as:
- Shipping damage
- Loose hardware
- Cracks
- Sharp edges
- Missing components
- Torn fabric
- Damaged cords
- Broken parts
- Loose small pieces
- Unusual wear
Do not allow continued use of a product that appears damaged or unsafe.
